WonderVoice: Siri for Facebook, Sort of

Posted on

iPhone SiriWonderVoice is a new app that essentially serves as a “Siri for Facebook.” The app, which is available in the U.S. and Canada, allows mobile users to access and interact with Facebook using their voice. WonderVoice reads a user’s News Feed, messages and events, and allows users to update their status, see who’s online, see who’s nearby and more. Integration with 8Tracks and Spotify also enables users to tell WonderVoice to play their friends’ music from those services. The app, while intriguing, has its shortcomings. For one thing, when a user posts a status update or comment via WonderVoice, it only appears on Facebook as a link to listen to an audio clip of you saying the words. The app also has trouble understanding natural language. It also needs manual presses on the screen to finish certain tasks. Siri isn’t threatened by the niche-based WonderVoice, and remains far and away the more relevant app for the future of local search. (The Next Web, TechCrunch, Street Fight)
