What to Expect in Affiliate Marketing in 2013

2013Forrester estimates that the affiliate marketing industry will grow to $4.5 billion by 2016, but before we get there, what can we expect in 2013? According to Scott Allan, vice president of marketing for LinkShare (writing for Marketing Land), here are the five areas budgets will be allocated to in 2013: 1) global expansion, 2) strengthening a foundation for partnerships that will drive mobile, 3) omni-channel retailing, 4) tighter integration of marketing channels, and 5) refinement of social media and affiliate marketing practices.

Meanwhile, Smart Insights rounded up responses from four affiliate marketing pros about the industry in 2012 and what to expect in 2013. The burgeoning mobile realm is expected to be an area that will see big growth in 2013, which isn’t too surprising. When it comes to areas in affiliate marketing to watch in 2013, one expert pointed to pay-per-call.
