Wendy’s Mueller Resigns As COO

Tom Mueller, president and COO of Wendy’s International, Inc. has resigned from his post. His resignation was effective on Monday.

Mueller, who joined Wendy’s as senior VP-special projects in 1998 following a longstanding career with Burger King, led the QSR’s North American business and international division.

It was unclear why Mueller resigned from the job.

Jack Schuessler, Wendy’s chairman and CEO, will assume the president’s post on an interim basis, overseeing Wendy’s operations, marketing, research and development and other functions until the company names a replacement.

The company recently announced several initiatives to help improve Wendy’s operation and financial performance, including plans to sell selected real estate to franchisees, close underperforming restaurants and slow new store development.
