Vidal Sassoon Settles with P&G

Vidal Sassoon has settled a lawsuit with Procter & Gamble Co. over claims that the consumer products company deliberately sabotaged the Sassoon product line in favor of a competing brand.

As part of the settlement, P&G will retain ownership of the Sassoon name.

Last year, Sassoon sued P&G alleging the company stopped producing products under his name so it could boost its Pantene brand and avoid paying Sassoon royalties, according to news reports. The suit came after P&G said it was indefinitely suspending distribution of Vidal Sassoon products in North America.

P&G said in a statement that the lawsuit was settled “to the mutual satisfaction of all parties.”
