School Specialty Inc., a direct marketing of supplemental educational supplies, has named David J. Vander Zanden as chief executive officer. He had served as interim CEO since last March, when CEO and chairman Dan Spalding died.
Vander Zanden was named as president and chief operating officer in 1998. He will retain the president’s title.
Vander Zanden said in a statement that his primary goal since Spalding’s death has been “to ensure the continuity of leadership.”
Greenville, WI-based School Specialty mails over 39 million catalogs a year to customers. It sells supplies to schools and teachers for pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade.
