Some recipients of Val-Pak envelopes mailed April 1 through May 31 will receive a $100 check. Almost 1,000 of the 43 million envelopes (or, one per every 50,000 addresses) in the spring mailing will contain a check from Val-Pak.
Inserted randomly in envelopes marked with a colorful spring design and the message, “A $100 Check May Be Inside,” the checks are a promotion by corporate sponsor Val-Pak Direct Marketing Systems Inc.
“There’s no catch,” said Joseph H. Bourdow, Val-Pak president, in a statement. “The lucky recipient simply cashes the check at the bank and enjoys unexpected money.”
The promotion is designed to encourage consumers to open the envelopes and to use the enclosed coupons.
