The U.S. Postal Service was set to begin limited test of its anthrax decontamination system at its Trenton Processing and Distribution Center in Hamilton Township NJ on Saturday, Oct. 11.
The Hamilton facility was one of the USPS locations where postal workers contracted the disease during the fall of 2001 (Direct Newsline, Oct. 28, 2001).
The test, which will take approximately four hours, will allow the USPS to assess how well its delivery system can sustain the required level of chlorine dioxide gas to decontaminate the entire building.
The Postal Service anticipates results early next week.
