Call center revenues have increased an estimated 107% during the past year in India as a result of the large-scale migration of U.S. teleservices companies and outsourcing, according a new market research report.
India has become the world’s largest reservoir of inexpensive English-speaking center of customer service operations, said Research and Markets, a Dublin, Ireland based market research firm. An estimated 120,000 people in India work in the telemarketing sector.
U.S. companies such as Dell, Sun Microsystems, LG, Ford, General Electric and Oracle have all recently announced plans to increase their telemarketing presence in India.
Research and Markets said mergers and acquisitions of call centers in India are also on the rise.
