Trans Union LLC has rebuilt its target marketing file. The company had left the marketing list business in mid-2001 after restrictions placed by the Federal Trade Commission and the Financial Services Modernization Act curtailed its ability to use basic credit header information, such as name and address, for non-credit marketing purposes.
The new file, the Trans Union Marketing Database, contains data on 190 million adult consumers. It has been compiled from non-credit sources which include public record homeowner information, self-reported data and census findings, and has been tested by a small sampling of the company
