Two Ft. Lauderdale companies have joined forces to provide personalized e-mail addresses under the suffix .SR. Customers will use e-mail addresses using the format: firsname@lastname.sr.
The two firms offering the free service are Dot(SR), a subsidiary of Greenhold Group Inc. (which is the exclusive registry for domain names ending in .SR) and Name.SR.
The alliance is pitting itself against Hotmail, Yahoo and other Internet Service Providers. “We offer an attractive alternative to the so-called ‘free’ e-mail addresses available through other Internet companies,” said Thomas Lauzon, president of Name.SR, in a statement.
“We offer customers personalized e-mail addresses that are easy for them to remember and, more importantly, easy for friends and business associates to remember,” he added.
