SPENCER Brown thinks he might be the third president of The Tyee Group, the Portland, OR DRTV agency. But then again, he might be the fifth.
“The company is around 10 years old,” he says. “It was a partnership until 1998 and didn’t have a formal president until then. Tim O’Leary was president, then John Ripper, then O’Leary, and then Ripper. They alternated. Technically, I’m the third.”
In any event, Brown is the second president of Tyee who was not one of the co-founders. Ripper is now chairman of the board, while O’Leary, who had joined Tyee around 1990, has left to start his own consultancy.
