The Marketing Arm Hires VP for Wireless Marketing Services

The Marketing Arm has hired Eric Holmen as senior vice president for business development and marketing for the agency’s wireless marketing services, a new position.

He will also be responsible for directing marketing strategy for the division, focusing on competitive marketing initiatives and brand positioning. He will be based in Los Angeles.

The position began Monday.

Most recently, Holmen worked for three years as president of SmartReply, a privately held company based in Irvine, CA, which designs telephone and e-mail marketing programs for retailers. In his first year as president, Holmen expanded SmartReply’s offerings to include mobile marketing, which led to the acquisition of mSnap and drove the industry’s first retail mobile payment solution, The Marketing Arm said.

Prior to being named president, Holmen was SmartReply’s executive vice president for operations and strategy, overseeing client service, creative, production, and technology.

“As The Marketing Arm continues to innovate for its clients, Eric’s experience will be vital,” said Bryon Morrison, president of wireless marketing for The Marketing Arm, said in a release.

Prior to joining SmartReply in July 2003, Holmen served as executive director for Catalina Marketing, a shopper marketing agency, where he planned and managed division marketing and brand development.

Holmen has additional experience with Sears, Parable, and KlickBack.com, where he served as vice president of marketing.
