The Talbots Inc., Hingham, MA, has reported that catalog sales for the third quarter ended Oct. 30, rose 16% to $45.9 million from $39.7 million last year.
Net income for the quarter was $20 million, a 57% increase over the $12.7 million last year.
Total company sales for the quarter rose 19% to $317.3 million, compared to $267.7 million last year. Retail store sales increased 19% to $271.4 million from $227.9 million.
For the 39-week period ended Oct. 30, catalog sales rose 16% to $136.3 million from $117.7 million last year. Net income increased 51% to $43.2 million compared to $28.6 million last year. Total company sales increased 13% to $915.3 million versus $806.9 million and retail store sales were up 13% to $779 million from $689.1 million last year.
