Square Takes Its Mobile Payments Service to Canada

Square jewelSquare is continuing its international expansion by bringing tis mobile payments service to Canada. This is Square’s first launch outside of the U.S. The company is allowing Canadian customers (not “users,” at the behest of CEO Jack Dorsey) with iOS or Android devices to apply for a reader and accept credit card payments. Square currently has more than 2 million individuals and businesses accepting credit card payments with its service, and the company is helping to facilitate $8 billion in annualized sales. The company also signed a lease for a new headquarters in San Francisco, and set a goal of having 1,000 employees by the end of next year. (The Next Web, Financial Post)
