To celebrate its Swimsuit Edition’s 40th anniversary next year, Sports Illustrated launched a Fresh Faces competition that lets women compete for a modeling contract and a spot in the issue when it hits shelves in February 2004.
The winner will be chosen from among 40 finalists judged by representatives from Sports Illustrated and NEXT Model Management at four Association of Volleyball Professional matches (sponsored by Nissan and Nautica) this summer. The grand-prize winner receives a three-year $75,000 modeling contract and a drive home in a 2004 convertible Nissan 35OZ Roadster.
Entries will be taken online at www.freshfaces.si.cnn.com starting June 30. Women ages 18 or older submit their vital statistics, including height and weight; a 250-word essay describing their involvement in sports; a “full body frontal” swimsuit photo; a head-and-shoulders no-makeup shot; and $25.
Advertising across Atlanta-based Time Warner’s media properties supports. Cohen Friedberg Associations, Framingham, MA, developed the campaign for Sports Illustrated and manages the Web site.
