The Spiegel Group reported sales of $139.1 million for the four weeks ended July 27, a 13% decrease from $160 million for the same four-week period last year.
For the 30 weeks ended July 27, sales for the cataloger and retailer dropped 16% to $1.2 billion from $1.4 billion in the same period in 2001.
For the month, total direct sales fell 19% and the Group’s retail store sales were off 6%.
E-commerce sales grew 1%.
By division, July sales dropped 2% at Eddie Bauer, 15% at Newport News, and 33% at Spiegel catalog.
