Sony Electronics Names New Marketing Exec

Sony Electronics has named Stuart Redsun its new senior VP of corporate marketing, effective June 19.

Redsun will guide the U.S. marketing strategies for Sony’s consumer and professional products. He will be responsible for designing and delivering an overarching brand strategy in support of the U.S. electronics business, coordinating specific marketing plans for such product lines as Vaio computers, Cyber-shot cameras and Bravia televisions. Redsun will also develop, direct and coordinate Sony’s national advertising and promotional campaigns, a company statement said.

Redsun has nearly 20 years of brand positioning, marketing and advertising experience. He comes to Sony from mobile service provider Helio, where he served as executive VP-marketing. He has held previous brand marketing positions at Motorola, Nike and Gateway.

Redsun’s experience includes the development of demand creation programs, managing both consumer and business-focused advertising campaigns, and executing successful global product launches such as the Motorola Razr and the Tiger Woods collection for Nike Golf.

Redsun will report to Sony’s CMO Mike Fasulo.

Sony Electronics is the largest component of Sony Corporation of America, the U.S. holding company for Sony’s U.S.-based electronics and entertainment businesses. Sony Corp.’s consolidated sales in the U.S. for the fiscal year ended March 31 were $16.7 billion.
