Smith & Hawken to Create Enterprise-Wide Customer Database

Smith & Hawken, a garden products cataloger and retailer, will use Fair Isaac’s MarketSmart Decision System to integrate its customer relationship management efforts across all channels. The company has 2.2 million customers, captured through catalog, Internet, and in-store efforts, in its database.

The value of the contract was not disclosed.

“We have a strong commitment to understand and service the highly personalized needs of our customer base,” Barry Gilbert, CEO at the Novato, CA-based firm said in a statement.

San Rafael, CA-based Fair, Isaac will work with Smith & Hawken to develop an enterprise-wide customer database that integrates information from all channels, providing a consolidated, multi-channel view of each customer. The new system will aid in building stronger customer relationships by determining the right channels to use with the right customer at the right time in the sales cycle.
