Global technology company Siemens Corp. has acquired naming rights for the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) trophy awarded to the top NCAA men’s basketball team.
The Siemens Trophy will be on display at several games during the season and will be presented to the top ranked team in the ESPN/USA Today/Coaches poll during a press conference on Apr. 5 following the Monday night NCAA Championship game.
Though the company targets business-to-business and consumer sales, Siemens spokesman Ken Aurichio said the company is not trying to reach any specific demographic through the sponsorship, but wants to raise awareness of its brand name within the U.S.
The naming rights deal is for one year, but Aurichio said Siemens can renew the deal and has the first right of refusal.
