QVC Inc., West Chester, PA is investing $15 million in TheKnot.com (http://www.theknot.com), a New York-based Web site dedicated to wedding resources. The deal is QVC’s first investment in an online vertical market company. QVC and TheKnot will join forces to expand TheKnot’s national gift registry. QVC will provide back office operations and distribution for the e-marketer.

Hanover Direct Inc., and RS Software India Ltd., have formed a joint venture to develop software, systems and programming for e-commerce applications for the direct marketing, retail and e-commerce industries. Initially, the companies will work to support Hanover’s Web services, including enhancing its “plug and play” common system platform. RS Software is a software services company based in Calcutta, India.

Santa Ana, CA agency M2 Marketing & Management Services has hired Adam MacDonald as senior vice president. MacDonald will act as a campaign manager for direct response clients.

Karen Burka has joined Digital Asset Management Inc. (DAMI), Stamford, CT, as vice president, community programming. She will lead DAMI’s content initiatives in launching the Web site (http://thinkdirectmarketing.com), which is slated to go live in May.

Eddie Bauer, Redmond, WA, will outfit the event staff of Safeco Field, the Seattle Mariners’ new ballpark. The local direct marketer’s logo will be displayed on the outfield wall, behind home plate, and on the playing field’s video screen.
