Ray Schultz, editorial director of DIRECT magazine and DIRECT Newsline, has been elected 2002 list leader of the year by the Direct Marketing Association’s List & Database Council.
“At a time when the list community is under heavy attack, the council recognizes Ray for his outstanding contributions and advancement of the industry’s ethical, legislative and business practices,” said Stefanie Pont, chairperson of the council and corporate media director of Brann Media Worldwide.
During his more than 20 years as an editor, Schultz has been a strong advocate of the list and database community, writing numerous editorials defending direct marketers and list suppliers against unfair media coverage, said a council statement.
Schultz joined DM News as a freelance reporter in 1981, and was appointed editor five years later. He joined Direct magazine as editor in 1994.
Schultz will receive the award on Aug. 26 at the Manhattan Penthouse in New York during the DMA’s List Vision 2002 Conference.
