Printing giant R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co., based in Chicago reported. net income of $38.3 million for the quarter ended June 30, a decline from $56.3 million for the same period a year ago.
Net sales for the quarter were $1.3 billion, a 7% drop from $1.4 billion a year ago.
The company attributed these results costs associated with the announced closings of company printing plants, workforce reductions and the soft economy in general.
