Quantum Launches Movie Ticket Loyalty Program

Posted on

Quantum Loyalty Systems is out with a new consumer loyalty program that lets movie fans print tickets to their favorite flicks from the comforts of home.

Under Quantum’s Movie Rewards program, consumers can claim movie rewards for making qualifying purchases from participating brands via the Internet. The new program, which launched last month, offers consumers instant redemption for its loyalty program.

Consumers who buy qualifying products will receive a unique code printed on their receipt. The codes can be entered at Activatemoviemoney.com to print out the rewards certificate good for free admission to a movie. Consumers can redeem the certificates at more than 36,500 participating movie theaters nationwide.

“Movies are a special kind of reward,” said Jim Shanahan, senior VP-card products for Quantum Loyalty Systems. “People have an emotional connection to movies.”

Brands, including Kodak and Pepsi, are tapping the program to reach consumers and are tying their brands to some of the summer’s most anticipated films. For example, Pepsi is teaming up with some 1,600 Safeway stores in the U.S. for a promotion tied to Warner Bros. Pictures’ Superman Returns, which opens in theaters today. Consumers who buy $14 worth of Pepsi products (including Frito-Lay and Quaker) will qualify for a free movie ticket. The promotion ends today.

Under the Kodak promotion, consumers who make a $20 purchase at Kodak EasyShare Gallery at KodakGallery.com qualify for a free movie ticket to Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, which hits theaters nationwide July 7. Also, consumers who buy $30 worth of inkjet paper or two Kodak color cartridge and photo paper kits (40-count) are also eligible for a free movie ticket (Xtra, May 31, 2006). To qualify, consumers must enter their information online at KodakPirates.com. The promotion runs through July 31.

The Movie Rewards certificate uses MasterCard’s network as its payment option. The certificate acts like a MasterCard credit card, but in a paper form and without the MasterCard branding. “It’s instantaneous,” Shanahan said. ‘We want to make [redemption] as fast as possible for the consumer.”

Quantum Loyalty Systems plans to send a direct mail piece with codes to some 5,000 clients and potential clients in July in which they can test out the program for themselves, Shanahan said. Online materials support.

The Movie Rewards program is Quantum’s latest loyalty program. The company also offers a plastic gift card called Quantum Rewards Card, as well as its Hollywood Movie Money rewards program.
