‘PARADE MAGAZINE’, SHARE OUR STRENGTH BAKE OFF

“Parade” Magazine has cooked up a cause-related bake sale event with Share our Strength, a nonprofit working to end hunger and poverty in the United States.

Monies raised from the April 27 to July 22 campaign will go toward the Washington, DC-based non-profit’s fight against childhood hunger. Consumers can participate by holding a “Great American Bake Sale” in their communities or buying items from an event. Seventy-five percent of the net proceeds collected in each state will be granted to local Share Our Strength programs.

Details are at www.greatamericanbakesale.org, where bakers can also enter a contest for raising the most money, best bake sale photo and the most creative bake sale. Prizes include a trip to Los Angeles and a walk-on role on “8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter,” the chance to have the bake sale photo appear in Parade and a Betty Crocker Baking Kit featuring a stand mixer and other accessories. Plus, one of the characters from the April 29 episode of ABC’s “8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter” will hold a Great American Bake Sale.

The program, created by New York City-based Parade and Share our Strength, is sponsored by ABC Television, Betty Crocker, Tyson Foods and Reynolds Consumer Products.
