Online Real Estate Spending to Top $3 Billion: Report

Online real estate advertising spending will eclipse newspaper classifieds by 2009, reaching more than $3 billion, according to Borrell Associates.

According to news reports, money spent on online real estate advertising will account for more than 34% of all real estate ad expenditures in the next four years. The company also expects online real estate advertising dollars to exceed $1.8 billion in 2005, a 55% increase over last year.

The report follows a 2004 Borrell study that found newspapers had a 2% loss in real estate advertising market share between 2003 and 2004, while online venues gained 2%.
