Online banking is projected to grow 23.3% this year, according to a new report from eMarketer.
The report, Interactive Banking: Integrating Online into Traditional Channels, notes that in the U.S. alone, online banking grew 37.6% in 2001.
“The rate of growth will diminish over the next few years, but it will remain steady and positive,” said David Hallerman, senior analyst. “By the end of 2005, 31.5 million American households will be banking on the Internet.”
One out of every five households currently banks online, a number New York-based eMarketer projects to grow to 26.1% in 2004.
