Number of College Students Buying Online Said to Double

The number of college students shopping online has doubled to a full 25% from a year ago, according to a survey by Greenfield Online.

A full 62% of these students say that they have made a purchase online, 10% more than in 1998. The top-selling products is a music compact disc, with 84% saying they plan to buy one in the next month.

The Greenfield Online study also found that a third of students today live off campus, compared to 25% just a year ago, that nearly 40% now have their own World Wide Web home pages up from 36% in 1998.
