Nickelodeon is playing with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America this summer for a Let’s Just Play campaign designed to get children to lead healthier lifestyles.
The program includes PSAs, celebrity endorsements, community events and culminates in an on-air special this fall on Nick.
According to a December 2002 study from the California Department of Education, kids with high fitness levels show the greatest gains in academics.
Three different PSAs on Nickelodeon will encourage kids to go outside and play this summer, while Nick.com, NickJr.com, everythingnick.com and Nickelodeon Magazine feature games, teaming tips and links to local Boys & Girls Clubs.
Starting next month, New York City-based Nick and Atlanta-based Boys & Girls Club will hold relay events in four cities complete with Nick-themed slime bucket brigades for families to partake in. The events will take place in Columbus, OH; Kansas City, MO; Los Angeles; and Spokane, WA. The Los Angeles event will be shown on Nick in the fall.
