3M: will create “The World’s Largest Pink Ribbon” out of Post-it Super Sticky Notes as part of a fund raising campaign for breast cancer awareness. The 70-foot tall ribbon will be unveiled in New York’s Times Square the first week of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.
GMR MARKETING: Detroit, has established Vehicle Visions, a new division to provide major automakers and brands with preparation and transportation services for their car shows and customized vehicles used in marketing promotions, movies and auto shows. CEO and general manager Terry Pruitt, a 35-year executive of the international auto show and event industry, heads the division.
ALLIED DOMECQ: QSR division and its joint venture partner, B-R 31 Ice Cream Co., Ltd. (Baskin-Robbins Japan) have announced the formation of a Baskin-Robbins Global Marketing Fund. The fund will support marketing efforts for Baskin-Robbins stores internationally beginning January 2005. Both Allied Domecq QSR and 1,862 Baskin-Robbins stores in 30 international markets will make contributions to the fund on the basis of retail sales. The fund will support stronger product and program development, event sponsorships, market research and the future implementation of global media support such as online and satellite television advertising.
HIT ENTERTAINMENT: has appointed Jean Lemmey as director-retail development, promotions and broadcast relations. Lemmey’s responsibilities include maximizing home video and consumer product sales through a series of coordinated retail programs and spearheading promotional partnerships that mirror or enhance HIT brands’ positioning. She also provides strategic support and liaises with HIT’s broadcast partners.
THE WILDFLOWER GROUP: in conjunction with its network of international licensing agents, has teamed with a host of global licensees for Newton’s Law—a comic strip recently featured in countries throughout Europe. Newton, the world-weary teddy bear, will be available in an assortment of new products including cuddly plush, mobile phone downloads, stationary, scrapbooks and automotive accessories.
