CHEVRONTEXACO: has renewed an agreement to raise public awareness and funding for autism education and advocacy through its NASCAR sponsorship program, Driving Autism Awareness, in part through matching donations of $42 for every lap that driver Jamie McMurray leads during the 2005 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series.
SCION: has signed a one-year sponsorship agreement as a top level Video Game League tournament sponsor. The deal brings local tournaments to Scion dealerships in 28 metro markets throughout the U.S., The automaker will award a Scion xB to the champion of each national tournament. Orlando-based Turn-Key Marketing Services handles.
DIAGEO’S: Johnnie Walker brand has signed a deal to sponsor Formula 1’s Team McLaren Mercedes. The first race with the new sponsors will be at the inaugural Turkish Grand Prix on Aug. 21. Just Marketing, Indianapolis, handles.
NICKELODEON TELEVISION: has promoted Brown Johnson to the newly created position of executive creative director of Preschool Television, Nickelodeon Television. In her new role, Johnson, the former executive VP, Nick Jr., will oversee the development and production for all preschool programming across Nickelodeon networks, including Nick Jr. and Noggin. Johnson, who joined Nickelodeon in 1987, was the driving force behind the Nick Jr.’s preschool properties Blue’s Clues, Dora the Explorer and new hits LazyTown and The Backyardigans.
