PEPPERIDGE FARM: is running a Red Carpet Style Sweepstakes dangling a grand-prize trip to a 2007 “red carpet event” or an awards show viewing party for 10 friends. The sweeps, timed to the March 5 Academy Awards, is part of a gatefold ad buy in People Magazine, touting Pepperidge Farm as being “nominated for most glamorous cookie in a dramatic role.” The ad carries party tips from a fashion stylist and makeup artist, and sends readers online to enter the sweeps. The sweeps runs through March 20 via People.

SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS COMPANY LTD: and Avaya, Inc. entered into an agreement to co-develop and market products for IP-based solutions that serve the voice, video and data convergence market. The collaboration will drive the delivery of enhanced IP convergence products and mobility solutions that integrate both companies’ technologies, and offer enterprises choices in IP-based network services.

HARRY & DAVID OPERATIONS CORP.: Medford, OR, promoted Cathy Fultineer to executive VP-sales and marketing and Peter Kratz to executive VP-operations. Fultineer will lead all marketing and branding work across the food company’s online, retail, catalog and wholesale businesses. She’s been with Harry & David for 10 years, most recently as senior VP-general manager for Harry & David Stores. Kratz will oversee management of agriculture operations, purchasing, manufacturing, call centers and distribution. He had been senior VP-general manager of production.

AMERICAN EAGLE OUTFITTERS: has appointed Kathy Savitt as executive VP, CMO. The appointment is effective March 12. In her new role, Savitt will oversee marketing and brand strategies for American Eagle Outfitters and its Web site AE.com. She replaces 11-year veteran Michael Leedy, who is leaving the company to pursue other interests. Savitt joined American Eagle Outfitters from Amazon.com, where she was VP-strategic communications, content and initiatives. In that role, Savitt oversaw global brand management, external and internal strategic communications, entertainment and original programming, worldwide p.r. and offline marketing programs.

SCHOLASTIC: is counting down the paperback release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince with an online sweepstakes, dangling a Harry Potter prize package. Consumers can enter online at Scholastic.com/harrypotter every Wednesday through April 12. Three grand-prize winners get a Harry Potter-branded iPod with six downloadable audiobooks from iTunes and a deluxe U.S. edition of the book. Six first-prize winners will receive two Harry Potter hardcover box sets. The Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince paperback will hit stores July 25.
