EVENT AGENCY: George P. Johnson Co. has formed a joint venture with show producer Encore Productions to streamline events execution. The venture, called Event Management Team, is owned 50-50 by Johnson and Las Vegas-based Encore, with equal representation in management under Johnson VP-operations Ed Sypek and Encore CEO Phillip Cooper. The two companies have collaborated on events in the past; the joint venture opens with IBM as its charter client. Auburn Hills, MI-based Johnson ranked No. 16 in the 2006 PROMO 100 with 2005 net revenues of $142.6 million, up 21% from 2003.

AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL GROUP: tapped 141 Worldwide, New York, to handle its four-year, $100 million global sponsorship of the U.K. soccer team Manchester United. 141’s sports and entertainment division, 141 Premiere, will work with AIG to activate the new sponsorship globally and weave it into AIG’s overall marketing strategy for its insurance and financial services.

WASSERMAN MEDIA GROUP: will lead the naming rights process for the new home of the New York Jets and Giants, the New Meadowlands Stadium. The company will work on behalf of Giants Stadium LLC and Jets Development, LLC. The new 82,500-seat Meadowlands Stadium, scheduled for completion in time for the 2010 football season, will be located near the current Giants Stadium at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, NJ. Wasserman develops marketing programs and corporate sponsorships for consumer brands and delivered naming rights for venues such as the Staples Center in Los Angeles and the Phillips Arena in Atlanta.
