J.M. SMUCKER CO.: is running a Taste & Tell contest for Smucker’s Uncrustables frozen sandwiches. Consumers enter (via video or audio) by describing how they reacted to their first bite of Uncrustables. Top prize is a $25,000 college scholarship; lesser prizes are video iPods (three winners) and a year’s supply of Uncrustables (six winners). Consumers enter online or at stops along Uncrustables’ summer tour of 19 markets through Sept. 6. Ten semi-finalists will be posted at Smuckers.com for consumers to vote for their favorite to select four finalists; judges choose the winners from there. NBC: and Netflix have teamed up in a new promotion to offer 5 million Netflix subscribers the chance to watch the premiere episodes of two NBC dramas before they air in September. Starting Aug. 5, Netflix subscribers can watch Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and Kidnapped when the titles are added to members’ personal queues on Netflix.com. As part of the partnership, the Netflix DVD will also include trailers of NBC’s other new fall drama series. The promotion runs through Sept. 17. TV spots, online materials and print ads in Netflix red mailers will support.
PROCTER & GAMBLE CO.: is discontinuing Rochas ready-to-wear by October, the high-end Paris-based fashion line that was part of the consumer products company’s 2003 acquisition of the German cosmetics company Wella, The Associated Press reported.
