SHELL OIL:

tapped Carlson Marketing Group, Minneapolis, to handle event management for Shell Hellas’ sponsorship of the 2004 Olympics Summer Games in Athens, Greece. Carlson Marketing Group will handle program creation and development, on-site delivery, guest registration, guest customer service, merchandise, accommodations, transportation and event ticket management, as well as all staffing needs. Shell Hellas is the Greek division of The Royal Dutch/Shell Group of Cos.

NASCAR’s LICENSING DIVISION: has hired Paul Sparrow as director of retail development, based in Charlotte, NC. He will be responsible for developing new retail relationships, as well as programs and promotions that sell NASCAR-licensed products to retailers. Sparrow will also help increase licensed good sales in the more developed mass market channel, as well as sales via specialty sporting goods, upstairs retailers and other distribution channels that NASCAR is developing. NASCAR’s licensing division manages relationships with approximately 200 licensees, for total annual licensing sales of approximately $2.0 billion.

Sparrow was most recently director of marketing and retail development at the NFL, where he restructured the league’s apparel licensing division, developed new accounts, and increased royalty revenue for licensed products.
