Nelnet Inc. has purchased Student Marketing Group (SMG), a direct marketing agency that helps marketers reach the education marketplace. College Bound Selection Service, an SMG division that provides marketing services and college-bound student lists to universities, and National Honor Roll, a student achievement recognition firm, were included in the deal. The purchase price will range between $31 and $51 million, based on the performance of the acquired companies.
SMG and National Honor Roll will remain in Lynbrook, NY, and will operate as wholly owned but separate entities of Nelnet. Both companies will retain their brand identities, management and employee base.
