NCCP Settles FTC Lawsuit for $100,000

Canadian telemarketer NCCP Ltd., doing business as National Credit Card Protection LTD., Toronto, and owner Cary Title, agreed to pay the Federal Trade Commission $100,000 to settle a lawsuit against them for violating the agency’s telemarketing rules.

The FTC charged that the firm allowed its employees to make false and misleading statements, in telemarketing calls to U.S. citizens, about the sale of credit card protection services, including protections against Year 2000 computer glitches affecting their credit cards. The suit was filed in U.S. District Court, Buffalo, NY.
