The National Geographic Society has launched an online book club.
The club, National Geographic Book Club for Kids, is part of its new, nonfiction literacy campaign for students in grades 3-6.
At the site http://www.nationalgeographic.com/bookclub are stories from National Geographic’s 30-title series, “Reading Expeditions,” as well as more than 20 well-known trade books on topics ranging from adventurous explorers to history buffs to world travelers, by authors such as John Hersey and Laura Ingalls Wilder. Thirty titles will be added to the series next year.
MasterCard international funded the site, the company said.
