MSGI Names COOs; Terminates CFO

Marketing Services Group, New York, has named Thomas M. Smith, 53, and David Greenspan, 43, to replace former COO Michael Dzvonik. The company has also terminated the employment of its chief financial officer, Rudy Howard.

The moves are an effort to intensify the company’s focus on profitability, the firm said.

Smith left the group to continue his role in the company’s former subsidiary, Grizzard Communications, whose sale was recently completed. He joined the company in December 1999. He spent 11 years with Harte-Hanks as senior vice president of sales and marketing.

Greenspan, who joined the firm in May 2000, managed the company’s cost-cutting and revenue growth initiatives, which have yielded over $2 million in savings. Greenspan also directed the business development, information technologies and consolidation efforts. Prior to joining Marketing Services Group, he co-founded Clemente, Greenspan & Co., a consulting firm providing strategic advisory services and integration tactics to corporations including Lucent, IBM and Forbes Special Publishing.

Chief accounting officer Cindy Hill will assume Howard’s duties.
