The U.S. Postal Service is offering Cipro to seven thousand postal workers in Manhattan, the Associated Press reported.
The decision to hand out the anti-anthrax medication occurred after a union leader insisted that post offices be closed if workers tested positive for exposure to anthrax. Cipro will be offered to the six midtown post offices possibly affected by anthrax-tainted mail.
