Mandinez.com Offers Mandala-Inspired Clothing

Actress, model and designer J. Callendar has an abiding passion for mandala meditation and artwork. After a short stint selling products inspired by the technique, last January she created Mandinez.com to sell her wares.

“I had gotten interested in different types of meditation and was focusing on mandala meditation which basically requires drawing and painting of different geometric designs having to do with Hinduism and Buddhism, says the Brooklyn, NY artist.

The site offers mandala-inspired artwork; home and office accessories; and apparel, such as organic t-shirts and fitness wear featuring several different colorful designs based on Callender’s personal favorite mandalas. All the clothing is manufactured in the U.S.

To promote Mandinez.com, Callender has used a combination of print ads in local weekly newspapers in Brooklyn as well as Google AdWords and search engine optimization.

“Most of my promotions have been online,” she says.

One of them is a listing on social networking site Myspace.com.

“It’s very effective because you get a very targeted audience of people who are interested in yoga and meditation,” she says. “Who ever joins list net does and who doesn’t doesn’t.”

Callender–who hasn’t stopped being an actress–says products with her designs on them will also be featured in a movie that’s coming out next year.
