The Loose Cannon column will return in two weeks. Its author is going down by the creek for the remainder of August. Once there, he will tie some fishing line to his big toe and let the other end dangle in the water. He will then pull his straw hat down over his eyes and nap. Maybe Huckleberry Finn will come ambling by, and the two of ’em can play at being pirates!
