NetCreations Inc., New York, may expand its services to offer list brokerage in the business-to-business and technology markets. The e-mail marketing company has begun testing the service with a handful of it clients.
“The demand [for more e-mail names] is so strong from the B-to-B and tech marketers that we work with,” Rosalind Resnick, NetCreation’s CEO, said yesterday while attending the Direct Marketing Association’s net.marketing conference. “A lot of times we don’t have enough names to keep our mailers happy and it makes sense to be able to offer them, in addition to our own names, high quality B-to-B and tech lists from other sources.”
In addition to its 27 million consumer e-mail names, NetCreations manages 4.5 million B-to-B and technology e-mail names. Resnick said there are no plans to offer list brokerage services on the consumer side of its business.
NetCreations long-standing policy of managing only double opt-in names may not apply to the names it brokers for clients.
“We’re still discussing that internally, but there are some cases where single opt-in may be acceptable,” Resnick said, citing subscriber files as an example.
NetCreations recently approved its merger with Sogerim, S.A., an affiliate of SEAT Pagine Gialle, Italy’s largest Internet Service Provider.
