List Vision ’99–the new name of the annual Direct Marketing Association sponsored List Day conference–will be held Aug. 11 at the Hilton New York & Towers. The new title, as well as a collection of cutting-edge topics are meant to reflect a future-looking direction for the event, said Fran Green, executive vice president of list management and compilation at American List Counsel Inc., Princeton, NJ, and chairperson of List Vision ’99.
Topics new this year that address the future include a session on mergers and acquisitions called, “Industry Implosion: Who’s Eating Who”; one on e-mail marketing, “List.com”; “Teen Power: the Emerging Generation Y”; “Achieving Your Personal Best: Skills for the New Millennium”; and a session billed as a power forum: “Predicting and Forecasting the Industry of the Future.”
Featured keynoters include Richard Karlgaard, publisher of Forbes magazine, and Millard Fuller, founder and president of Habitat for Humanity International. The night before the event, Don Rappaport, chairman and CEO of the American List Counsel, will be presented with the List Leader of the Year award by the DMA List and Database Council.
Special pricing is available if a minimum number of people from one company attend; for a supplier who brings a client; and for those who also register for Nonprofit Day, which is being held the day before.
