The father of direct marketing, Lester Wunderman, will be the featured guest speaker at the Hudson Valley Direct Marketing Association luncheon next week.
During a fast-paced question-and-answer session, Wunderman will address the 19 things all direct marketers need to know including: insights on direct marketing today; whether the rules have changed; favorite (and not-so favorite) campaigns; and the future of the direct marketing industry, the association said.
Consultant, professor and author, Wunderman is Chairman Emeritus and founder of Wunderman direct marketing agency. He is also chairman and a member of the board of directors at i-Behavior, a provider of database targeting services. He has written two books about the industry, “Being Direct” and “Frontiers of Direct Marketing.”
He was named to the Direct Marketing Hall of Fame in 1983, and in 1997 received the lifetime achievement award from both Direct Marketing Days in New York and the New England Direct Marketing Association. He was elected to the Advertising Hall of Fame and was named as one of 20 “Advertising Legends and Leaders,” by Adweek magazine. In 1999, he was named as one of the “Top 100 People in Advertising,” by Advertising Age magazine.
The session will be moderated by Rich Mercado of Madison Direct Marketing.
The event will be held Nov. 6 at the Fairview Country Club in Greenwich, CT. Networking begins at 11:30 a.m., lunch and the speaker will be from 12 to 2 p.m. The price is $50 for HVDMA members and $60 for non-members.
