MessageMedia Inc., San Diego, which manages e-mail campaigns for online marketers, has appointed A. Laurence Jones president. For the past year, Jones has served as an independent operating affiliate of McCown DeLeeuw and Co., a private equity investment firm. Jones also served as chairman of Sarcom, an information technology company. Previously, Jones was president and CEO of Neodata Services Inc., now part of Centrobe.
Jones succeeds Keith Kendrick, who left MessageMedia in January to head up the e-commerce operations of Bank One Corp. Following an initial transition period, Jones is expected to be named CEO of MessageMedia, succeeding Dennis Cagan, who has held the position of Interim CEO since the departure of Kendrick.
