JupiterResearch Predicts Online Ad Shift to Behavioral Targeting

The latest online advertising projections from JupiterResearch predict total online advertising spending will grow to just shy of $20 billion by the end of this year and increase to $35.4 billion by 2012.

Much of the growth in online advertising is being fueled by the expansion of social networking Web sites, according to JupiterResearch analyst Emily Riley.

Online advertising networks and contextual ads presently account for most online advertising, but JupiterResearch predicts the market will shift to more behavioral targeting.

“Most of the opportunities require tracking evolving consumer behavior closely, employing appropriate targeting and measurement technologies,” said in a statement David Schatsky, president of JupiterResearch.
