JibJab Brothers Go To Work for Budweiser

The brothers who created the wildly popular “This Land” Internet video that poked fun at presidential contenders George Bush and John Kerry in 2004, have teamed with Budweiser to develop online entertainment for the beer brand.

The first works breaks this summer as videos for TV and the Internet. The deal calls for a series of projects this year.

Gregg and Evan Spiridellis, who founded JibJab Media in their Brooklyn, NY, garage in 1999, will use “cutting edge” technology and viral entertainment to reach Bud’s target audience, Anheuser-Busch Cos., Budweiser’s parent, said.

In announcing the partnership, the duo has brought back two popular “Bud” lizards — Frank and Louie — to create a 30-second teaser video titled, “Roll Out the Barrel.” The video went live yesterday and can be viewed at

“We’re a company that likes to have fun, and that’s purely the goal as we bring the humor and satire of JibJab to our team,” said Boby Lachky, VP-brand management and director, Global Brand Creative, Anheuser-Busch, in a statement.

The Spiridellis, based in Santa Monica, CA, have also worked with Sony, Kraft, USA Networks and the History Channel.

Anheuser-Busch said that “This Land” and its follow up, “Good to be in DC!”, were seen more than 80 million times online and on every continent, including Antarctica.
