Internet Sales Up in June for J. Crew

The online sales channel was the only one showing an increase in monthly year-over year sales for J. Crew Group, Inc. The New York-based apparel cataloger and retailer had $66.9 million in revenue for the five weeks ended July 7, compared with $66.6 million for the five weeks ended July 1, 2000.

Internet revenue rose from $7.1 million to $9.8 million, while catalog sales fell from $13.3 million to $10 million. The retail division generated $35 million, up from $34 million. The remainder was made up by licensing and operational revenue.

“The difficult retail climate continues to negatively impact our sales growth, but total sales for June were in line with our revised expectations,” said Mark Sarvary, J. Crew
