Internet Sales Boost Sportsman’s Guide’s Fortunes

The Sportsman’s Guide Inc. generated first-quarter 2002 sales of $41.6 million, compared to $38.9 million reported for the same period one year ago. Net earnings for the quarter totaled $784,000, a turnaround from the net loss of $167,000 in first quarter 2001. The quarter ended March 31.

The company attributed the turnaround to wider margins, contained costs and the fact that Internet sales were up.
