The online advertising trade show @ad:tech has been acquired by Imark Communications, Natick, MA. Financial terms of the deal between Imark and Richmond, VA-based eMarketworld, the previous owner, were not revealed.
The schedule of @ad:tech shows will go on as planned, in Los Angeles May 2-4 and in New York Dec. 4-6. The @ad:tech staff will remain in their positions in Fairfield, CT. Joel Davis, who had been president with eMarketworld, now holds the position of vice president and general manager of Imark Fairfield.
The twice-yearly @d:tech conferences, which began in 1996, grow in attendees with each new conference, according to Davis. The December 2000 show had more than 4,000 attendees and more than 200 exhibitors.
The make up of the show has evolved, however. “The show really began as a meeting place for the dotcom companies who where advertising and marketing online,” Davis said. “What we’re finding now is that more and more of the traditional marketers are implementing online advertising into their overall marketing campaigns–and that’s who’s coming to the show.”
Some 80% of the exhibition spaces for 2001 were sold–and paid for–at the December 2000 @d:tech show, Davis said. While acknowledging that because of the souring of the economy, this may not be the best time to make deals, the show is still “a tremendous meeting place for people in the industry.”
